I'm bad, I'm bad, I know it!

I do SO well yesterday. I only ate what I intended to at work. Then I had my good dinner that I'd made Monday. YUMMY chicken & broccoli alfredo with penne pasta. Unfortunately, I ate a bunch of mini reeses peanut butter cups after dinner. Then today at work I ate well again, but then we had devotions, with something special because of Valentine's Day - lots of yummy stuff with a chocolate fountain!! Of course I couldn't say no to that! There is nothing better than chocolate covered strawberries!! I figure as long as I'm trying to be healthy, it's better than before when I just didn't care! :)

On a very sad note...a great man died this week. I knew Tom from church. He died suddenly a couple days ago. I feel like it still hasn't sunk in. He has a son and daughter around my age. He has a little grandson. It's very shocking, and I'm sure his family is still trying to comprehend it all. Pray for them if you think of it.

Time to get serious

So this is my week. My week to start, anyway. Lately, all I eat is JUNK. John has been working 2nd shift, which means he's not home for dinner. And I'm not one to cook dinner just for myself. So either I get Subway, or I eat chips and chocolate. Healthy, I know. Even the Subway isn't healthy because I get the Spicy Italian sub which is loaded with salami and pepperoni. Yesterday I made a plan. I wanted to make a couple meals that John and I could use as our dinners throughout this week. That way he doesn't have to buy dinner, and I don't have to eat junk.

So yesterday I shopped for what I needed. I decided to make Baked Ziti (with lowfat ricotta and lowfat mozzarella) and Chicken, Penne & Broccoli with Lowfat (homemade) Alfredo. Healthy meals! While shopping I decided I needed to eat better during the days too. I can have lunch at work, but it's not always that healthy. But I can always get a salad. So for breakfast I got bananas and whole-wheat waffles. For lunch I got yogurt (and I'll have salad from work.) Then I bought a couple 100 Calorie Packs: Cheese Nips and some cookies. I'll have one a day in the afternoon when I really need a snack.

Today was a holiday...no work! So I had a banana and a cheese stick around 11. Then I didn't eat anything else because we were going out to eat. I know, I know, what an awful day to start a semi-diet. But better now than never. So we went to an Italian Buffet tonight which was AWESOME. Tomorrow will be my real start.

I made our meals today, and they're all in tupperware, ready for John to take to work, and me to eat here at home for dinner. I'm hoping I can keep up with my ambitious plans to eat better. I really need to get healthy. And when I do get pregnant again, I want to already be on a good track.

We also did lots of cleaning today. We have a spare bedroom on our main floor that is an 'overflow' room. Unfortunately, it's been overflowing for quite some time. So we went through tons of stuff. I found all the cards from, first: when we were pregnant and, second: when we lost the baby. I started crying as I read through them all again. Then I found the baby gifts my sisters had given to me. I kept on crying. Many times now I can think of my baby and not get upset and not cry. But for some reason today it just hurt so much. A friend of mine just recently had a miscarriage. My heart hurts for her, and it seems to bring back the pain from when I went through that. Someday, soon, I hope I'm pregnant again.

Say It Ain't So!

I cannot believe that today is Caleb's 2nd Birthday! It definitely doesn't seem like it's been 2 years since he was born. My darling Caleb is such a sweetheart. He's so smart, so sweet and so adorable! And what a trooper with all his doctor's appointments and tests. He's just the best! I was thrilled to receive the following picture from my brother yesterday. He wrote in the email that they took the boys to Sears for pictures, and look what Caleb did!

Just seeing him standing is such an answer to prayer! I know that there are SO many people praying for Caleb. People that we don't even know are praying for him. It's amazing to me how awesome God's family is. And we're seeing the results right here! Please continue to pray for him. We're praying that the latest test they did will come back negative. We're also praying every day for continued strenth for Caleb. That his muscles will grow stronger every day. I pray every day that he will walk. And he's getting closer!!

So, Happy Birthday Caleb! Aunt Lynn is so proud of you and all your hard work. I love you so much and can't wait to see you take your first steps!!

Just Desserts

Being an old married woman means I usually spend Friday nights at home with John. We almost always get pizza, usually from Marino's, and we either watch a movie or stuff we have dvr'd. My life is so exciting. :)

Tonight was different! John was going to a movie with Adam, Stephen and some other guys. So when Kristen, John's sister asked if I wanted to hang out with her and her cousin's wife, Chrystal, I said sure! We were going to go visit their Grandma for a little bit, then go out for dessert.

Well, we got to Grandma's and the door to her room was locked. Turns out it was some kind of game night over there, and a bunch of the older people were gathered in a big room playing something...not sure what it was. Since Grandma seemed so involved, we decided not to interrupt the game. I felt bad that we didn't get to visit her, but we'll have to plan another night to do that.

So on to the second part of our evening....dessert. Now just for a little background, Kristen, Chrystal and myself are all dessert lovers. So this was a very exciting night for us. :) But we couldn't figure out where we wanted to go! We sat in the parking lot of Grandma's for a little while, then decided to go back to my in-laws to go online and look at the Red Robin menu. We were afraid of just going somewhere and then they would end up having nothing good for dessert. Well, their webpage was being funky so we couldn't view the menu. We decided to just head out there. The place was packed! Granted, it was Friday night, almost 8pm. We walked in and asked to see the menu. She handed it to us and said, "We don't have the chocolate pie tonight." (or whatever it was) That left some kind of apple something and...maybe a sundae. I'm not sure. Not much option there.

So we went through the list of where else we could go: Blue Ribbon, Tops Diner, any other diner, Olive Garden, etc. Finally we decided on Delmonico's because Chrystal had a really good dessert there once. Well let me tell you, we made the right decision!! We only had to wait about 20 mintues, and the desserts were AWESOME. I had chocolate chip cheesecake with homemade whipped cream. YUM-O! It was, seriously, the best piece of cheesecake I've ever had. I want to find a recipe for it. It had an Oreo crust that was SO yummy. I just loved it. So worth the wait and all the running around.

While we were waiting at Delmonico's Chrystal made a decision. She just has to open a dessert place. And the name? Just Desserts. Sounds good to me! Usually you're so full from eating dinner out, that if you do get a dessert, you're too stuffed to enjoy it! Tonight was perfect. We had some bread with yummy garlic butter, and dessert. My 2 favorite things!

My Faves

Caleb and Zachary hung out with Uncle John & Aunt Lynn today! On the phone, Dave said thanks so much for doing this. I just told him that really it's a selfish thing for me...I love these boys so much, and I love spending time with them! At one point today I was sitting on the couch with Caleb and I pulled him onto my lap to give him a big hug and he put his arms around my neck and hugged me back. I love him so much. The only way I could love this boy more was if he was my own. And he kind of is...the closest thing I have so far!

We played with trains and Caleb played the recorder again...he's getting better! Grampy stopped by for a little bit. Caleb gave Zoe treats, then John flew Caleb through the air for awhile. We watched a little bit of "Memo" (Finding Nemo) cuddled up on the couch. Uncle John bought tacos for lunch. Zach had a bottle and a nap. All in all it was a great day. I can't wait till the next time they come over.

After his taco, Caleb had a "bapple" He eats the whole entire thing, skin and all, and I had to document it because he's SO DARN CUTE!

Me & the Zach man. He's such a happy smiley boy!

Caleb wanted to watch Nemo, and apparently this is his relaxed, watching tv pose. I wonder if he got it from Daddy?? :)

Both boys watching Nemo :)

Me and Caleb. Have I mentioned how much I love this boy?!

And my Zoe dog! The best dog ever! She went to the groomer Saturday, so now she smells SO good, and look at her lovely bandana! John hates the bandanas from the groomer. Atleast that's what he says. I seriously doubt that, since this one stayed on for atleast 4 days. I love them! The groomer makes them, and I think they're so special. I had to get a picture of Zoe in her Valentine bandana. She was doing her head-tilt because John was teasing her. Zoe is such a good dog, and loves when Caleb & Zach come over. She lays on the floor with Caleb, and loves when he pets her. We couldn't ask for a better dog.

I seem to only blog on my days off

For anyone who's interested, you can read all Caleb's updates on his carepage. The webpage is www.carepages.com/carepages/Calebmeansstrong. You just have to make an account, if you've never used carepages before. Then you can see all the updates, comments and pictures.

Today is my day off this week. And BOY do I need it! We had a move up this week and I got a few new kids. I also lost a few kids. I'm really happy with my class. They seem pretty calm so far, and everyone is getting along. BUT things are stressful besides that. Some days/weeks/months parents just make me feel like crap. Never mind that I'm taking care of their kids all day, working hard to make everyone happy. Some parents just seem very ungrateful and blame me for stuff that is not my fault. Do you ever notice how some people just HAVE to have something to be upset about? It seems they're not happy unless there's something to complain about. Let me tell you...when you're taking care of that person's child, it makes YOUR life miserable. But that's enough of that.

Today I'm taking care of the BEST kids...Caleb & Zach. I asked Dave if they needed some alone time, or whatever, because I have the day off and I miss the boys!! I can't wait to see them. I'll take some pictures to post. (of course)

John is on second shift for a couple weeks now. Second shift is the WORST shift. I hate it. I work 7:15am to 5:30pm. Usually John works 7am-3pm. Works out great! But on 2nd he works 3pm-11pm. Plus it takes atleast a half hour for him to get home. So when he works 2nd, we don't see each other. Hopefully he'll be off this shift soon. He's just covering for someone who's out because of an injury.

Well, time for my second cup of coffee. Plus I have a little cleaning to do before the boys come over. Better get moving!
